By Editorial teamUpdated Sourced from public records

11 prop firms sit in this registry because they shut down; each row gives the date, the cause, the payout outcome and our sources. It covers the best-known cases, not every closure. The 90 firms we track as operating are scored separately in the main ranking.

Reading the registry

Status count: 11 closed down. Click any name for a dated timeline of events and the sources behind it. A firm joins the list once its official site no longer sells challenges or trustworthy reports confirm it has closed. If it truly relaunches, it goes back into the ranking.

A firm folding is the biggest danger you take on when you pay for a challenge. Before buying, see our checklist for vetting a prop firm, then look at firms with the longest track record.

Questions about closed firms

Which prop firms have shut down?

11 firms are in the registry so far. It is a selection of the best-known cases, each with a sourced timeline, not a complete list. The most recent: FundedSeat, OANDA Prop Trader, MyFundedFX, FundingTicks.

What makes a prop firm close?

The usual triggers: losing access to a trading platform (the 2024 MetaQuotes changes are the best-known case), paying out more than challenge sales bring in, trouble with payment processors, and action by regulators. A number of the firms that went under were well rated not long before.

How do I limit my risk if a firm fails?

Keep account sizes small, take profits out the moment you qualify, favour firms that name their legal entity and have several years behind them, and save copies of your statements and every payout request.
